Julio Anguita's Book Launch Party

Julio's Book Release will be held on :

Wednesday, June 8th From 8:00pm - 10:00pm

At The Cafe Eclectic , 444 Bloomfield Avenue,Montclair, New Jersey.

Please Be punctual the event will start at exactly 8pm. Julio's book "The Ramblings of Lord Chaos" will be sold on site for $20.

Who is Julio Anguita?

Julio Anguita was born in the Brick City (Iron Bound Section) of Newark, NJ, in 1974. Anguita, who is of Puerto Rican descent, is a self-taught writer, artist, philosopher, and public speaker. He was initiated as a high priest in the Afro/Cuban religion of Nganga, which is known throughout the United States and Caribbean as Palo Mayombe, as well as an initiated member of the Freemasons.

Julio continues to give back to his community by performing in local poetry venues where he fuses his Afro/Cuban way of life into his own unique style of performance poetry. Julio incorporates the rhythms of the conga drum, played by his drummer Joel Garcia, and the dance movements of his spiritual dancer Elba Gomez into both a vocal and visual stimulation for the people in the audience. When he is not performing, Julio can be found speaking to aspiring young poets about perfecting their craft and offering spiritual guidance and advice to all individuals who seek his help in their everyday lives.

Julio Anguita is currently attending Essex County College in Newark, NJ, and is majoring in African/Caribbean studies. Anguita is employed by the Paterson Public School District and resides in Belleville, NJ, where he lives with his wife Judith and their three children. He is currently hard at work on his next writing project. He actively posts his comments on his blog about the issues many artists face in a country that is stripping away “freedom of speech”.

An Excerpt From Julio's Upcoming Book "The Ramblings Of Lord Chaos"

I am feeling inadequate

in time and space,

not fulfilling desire.

Maybe it’s just a mental thing,

or maybe I’m not feeling you,

because at times your heart can feel cold,

like a butterfly frozen in some Alaskan mountain.

Colorful patterns don’t adorn my physical self,

as I am not capable of morphing into something greater,

or should I say better or beautiful,

just to show my love for you.

I have exhausted all possibilities.

I have gone down one-way streets,

only to smack my head against dead end walls.

I should have seen the signs along the way,

big red stop signs,

standing out like obstacles,

sugar coated candy apple glazed octagons

down memory lane.

We hit speed bumps many times along the way,

only to move in reverse in this partnership of lovers.

Sometimes I feel that we don’t understand each other,

or maybe you just understand me.

Yes, I openly admit at times I maybe eccentric,

my methods weird and confusing,

and even though I question if God has a God,

I am still a human

filled with abstract dreams and emotions.

I hate the fact that in almost every argument that we ever had,

I was the one you felt was always wrong.

Sometimes I feel like I am still a dog in training,

and every time I do something good you throw me a biscuit.

I am punishing a fish to the point of starvation,

hungry for the hooks of your affection.

I am drowning in societies sorrow,

like a weakened piranha in the state of confusion.

Feeling perplexed, I wander the outer regions of my pale heart

in search of that feeling we use to have.
